Three Icelandic companies, A. Gudmunsson, Bryndis Bolladóttir and Volki exhibited new items at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2013. All three companies design and produce all their items in Iceland from local raw materials. Here are a few tasters:
A. Gudmundsson is a furniture production company established in 1956. Their wide range of furniture for office and home is designed by Guðrún Margrét Ólafsdóttir and Oddgeir Thórdarson and Erla Sólveig Óskarsdóttir. In Stockholm, A. Gudmundsson showed chairs Spuni by Erla Sólveig Óskarsdóttir, EX office chair by Gudrún Margrét Ólafsdóttir and Oddgeir Thórdarson and FLEX office furniture collection.
Bryndis Bolladóttir is a textile designer working with wool, known for her sound absorber-diffuser Kulan in particular. Bolladóttir shows new sound absorbers at Stockholm Furniture Fair.
Volki is an Icelandic design company, owned by Elísabet Jónsdóttir and Olga Hrafnsdóttir. The design duo has been working together since 2007 on various projects from artwork to projects connected to recycling. Their passion for the Icelandic wool led in 2010 to their first line of wool textiles where graphic patterns and bright colors play a pivotal role.
