Slanted Arabic typefaces with cascading connections by Mirjam Somers!
One of the most challenging Arabic type design projects concerning technique and aesthetics because of its elaborate, calligraphic nature, cascading Arabic is brought to us by the award-winning type designer and developer of font technology, Mirjam Somers.
Somers is also a co-founder of the celebrated company DecoType that specializes in designing computer-aided typography.
Together with her partners Peter Somers and Thomas Milo she created a revolutionary font layout engine called “ACE”, short for “Arabic Calligraphic Engine”, as well as several award winning typeface, one of them being the famous DecoType Nastaliq.
In her lecture Mirjam Somers will discuss the aspects of her past and current work.
