Every day up until the 24th, we will ask one of our international friends – journalists, designers, curators and other wonderful folks – to select something that relates to Iceland and/or Icelandic design and architecture, and to tell us, who they would like to give it to.

Let’s kick off this week with Graham Hiemstra, associate editor at Coolhunting.

First up I’d give the new DesignMarch tote bag designed by Iceland’s own Siggi Odds to my old friend Liv Siddall of It’s Nice That.  Liv, Siggi and I all met for the first time in Reykjavik, and Liv is a massive design nerd, so it’s only fitting.

On my last visit to Reykjavik I was introduced to Reykjavik Roasters (previously Kaffismiðja Íslands) Coffee. After a single cup of joe I made it a point to stop by at least once a day for the remainder of the trip. As a pretty big coffee snob myself, I was more than impressed with the small operation. So, for my second gift I’d give a bag of freshly roasted Kaffimidja beans to my good friend Stephen Varady. Stephen’s in the process of launching a tech startup, and happens to be the biggest coffee nut I know—spending upwards of an hour each morning just to make a single batch of coffee—so the more caffeine he can get the better.

Graham visited us during DesignMarch 2013. You can see his write-ups here. Coolhunting has been a regular guest at the festival for the past few years, and we look forward to seeing them soon again!
