Every day up until the 24th, we will ask one of our international friends – journalists, designers, curators and other wonderful folks – to select something that relates to Iceland and/or Icelandic design and architecture, and to tell us, who they would like to give it to.

For today’s calendar, we called up on graphic designer Siggi Eggertsson, who is Icelandic, but lives and works in Berlin, and thereby qualifies as an international friend.

I’ve always been a sucker for the Vík Prjónsdóttir stuff, especially the Seablanket.

Then of course I like the internet sensation that is PyroPet Kisa by Thorunn Arnadottir. I would give the Kisa to my friend Halli Civelek, and I think somebody nice should give me that Seablanket!

Santa, take note! As for the rest of you, we recommend you to see more of Siggi’s wonderful work here. Eggertsson studied in the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Following his graduation in 2006, he has worked widely in illustration, graphic design, typography and animation, with previous clients include WallpaperWiredNew York TimesIceland AirwavesCoca Cola, Nike, Nokia and Mulberry and Landsbankinn, for which he received the ADC*E Gold Award.

Siggi designed the DesignMarch 2011 festival identity for us, as well as our fabulous office wall mural.
