The most beautiful Christmas windows in Reykjavik were selected earlier in December by Midborgin Okkar, the association of shopkeepers in the city centre. Here are a few snapshots of the winning window displays. We hope you will get a chance to walk down the streets of Reykjavik yourself, though – it’s not for no reason that Reykjavik was selected as one of the 10 best cities to spend Christmas in by the CNN.

Geysir window by product design Thórunn Arnadóttir was selected as the most beautiful window in town.

Thórunn re-imagined the traditional Icelandic Christmas cat into a fashion police that watches the Skólavördustigur street. Geysir has a certain nostalgic atmosphere, so I wanted to make the Christmas cat resemble oldfashioned toy. The snow flakes are irregularly clipped from paper to create a dreamy, old school vibe.
