Inspired by the Icelandic sagas and Iceland’s landscape María Kristín Jónsdóttir creates pieces for her fictional Icelandic tribe of nomads, living in the rural areas of Iceland. María Kristín imagines what the tribe looks like, what they wear and how, and the outcome is STAKA. Raw neck and arm pieces that are laser cut from vegetable tanned leather and hand molded by the designer herself. STAKA_002_MariaKristinJonsdottir_2014

María Kristín Jónsdóttir has a keen passion for her cultural heritage and draws inspiration from nature, it’s forces, shapes and structures.

STAKA´s first collection, introduced during DesignMarch in 2012, has since been exhibited around Scandinavia and nominated for The Grapevine Design Awards in 2013 for best product line.
