DesignMarch opened with DesignTalks, a day of lectures at the National Theatre of Iceland.

After breakfast, Iceland’s minister of Education, Science and Culture Katrín Jakobsdóttir opened the talks.

First up, Inge Druckrey, professor emerita of graphic design spoke about the art of seeing. If you missed the lecture, watch this documentary of her work – it is 40 minutes very well spent!

The speakers’ stand is one the DesignMarch festival identity letters, S by Marcos Zotes. Read more about the identity and Marcos here.

Then, Maja Kuzmanovic, founder of FoaM  took over.

Quiet moment before lunch break and mingle

Juliet Kinchin, curator of design and architecture at MoMA stepped on the stage next.

Finally, it was Mark Eley’s and Wakako Kishimoto’s turn to show their teeth. The pair runs the London-based fashion label Eley Kishimoto.

The day ended with a discussion between speakers and more local design thinkers.
