DesignMarch 2013 is getting closer, and here is a very fine place to stay during the festival:

Opened in spring 2012, Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina has quickly become the hottest place to stay in Reykjavik. Designed by Freyr Frostason of THG Architects, the interiors are inspired by the country’s Nordic seafaring culture and rich maritime history

– suitable for a hotel located right by the operating harbor, with a shipyard right on its backyard.

The first floor is open to the harbour with a pedestrian street connecting the hotel to the old city. It is a public area with various spaces and seating areas to accommodate the hotel guests as well as the local crowd, including a bar, a restaurant, a gym and a lounge.

Colorful and trendy, cozy and quirky, all designs, furniture’s and fixtures are specially manufactured and built in Iceland. The interiors mix vintage and modern design.

Here are a few images of the hotel rooms:

As per DesignMarch guests, the only minus is that the festival program is so packed with great things that there will not be a lot of time to enjoy the hotel…

Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina is one of the three official residences for DesignMarch guests.
