Launched in Helsinki, Finland in 2011, Restaurant Day is a food carnival when anyone can open a restaurant for one day. What started from a grassroots event by a group of friends has grown into an international movement, with four annual events in dozens of countries and thousands of pop-up restaurants opening all over the world.
Coffee and cakes at the docks, treats from the trunk of a van, a six-course dinner in your living room – the restaurants can be anything at all. Here is a beautiful project from Seyðisfjörður, a lovely little town on the East coast of Iceland, where the local pop-up restauranteurs set up shop in the local geothermal pool.
