The idea of the project was to design a building that was open all year round, either for hikers who travel across the country or the ones who are on mini hiking trips on Reykjanes.

The building reminds of a lighthouse and has openings to either the sky or to sea, on land or the ocean front.

The whole process was done with sound in mind. The building is in many ways open, there is no glass in any windows, only where activities take place. The building either amplifies sound or diminish, with different heights and size of spaces and so on.

Because the building is open all seasons the building will in time unite nature, the birds will find somewhere to nest, vegetation will colonize and the water will have easy access into the building.
