Product designer Ólöf Rut Stefánsdóttir is a 2013 graduate of the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Her final project is Staldur Table, a multi functional table for the modern day cyclist.

According to the designer,

It’s interesting to observe that bicycle design has primarily been limited to biker and bike. My premise has therefore been to widen the scope of bicycle design by creating a social venue for bi- cyclists.

The Staldur Table serves as a social and practical arena for bikers, and at the same time increases the visibility of an increasing biking culture in Iceland.

The Staldur name derives from the Icelandic word “staldra”, meaning “stick around”.

The project was exhibited at Reykjavik Art Museum in the LHÍ Student Show 2013.

If you would like to try out the design Staldur Table is currently a part of the art exhibition List undir berum himni, located on the corner of Laufásvegur and Fríkirkjuvegur.
