Elisabet Kristin Oddsdóttir is a recent graduate from the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Her final project Hybrid Shell transforms removed hair i into a new material that can be used as protection for the body.

Thereby the hair obtains it’s protective role again in the new manufactured form. When worn the shell becomes a part of the body  like hair.

Man is the source of hair that gives him protection from the environment. When the hair has been removed from the body, it has the commonality of fibers that can be used for construction of new materials.

The new material is a type of fiberglass where the glass fibers are replaced by hair. Hair is then mixed with liquid polymer resin that is used for industrial production.

This is our third annual round-up of the final project by graduates from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, showcasing the brand new Icelandic design talent. For all previous posts in The Graduates category, see here.
