Una Steingrimsdóttir recently graduated with a BA in visual communication from the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Her final project is Lýrikk, a magazine and a publication specializing in creative texts of young authors. It is issued every month and presents one author individually.
The purpose of the magazine is to arouse public interest in the work of aspiring writers and challenge the traditional paradigm of the current designing of poetry books and short story collections.
The content of the magazine consists of creative texts laid out in an original manner. The approach is to provide the reader a certain freedom to enjoy the content of the magazine in their own personal way, for example by using it as a poster, store it in a book, send it to a friend or decorate their environment. That way, the content can end up in a place where it is visible and less likely to end up forgotten in a book shelf.
This is our third annual round-up of the final project by graduates from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, showcasing the brand new Icelandic design talent. For all previous posts in The Graduates category, see here.
