Roughly a year since Eyjafjallajökull, and here we go again!
Grimsvötn, a sub-glacial volcano in the South-East of Iceland started erupting on Saturday night.
Whether or not we will find ourselves back in the flight chaos of last spring remains to be seen. Neither was all that came from the chaos was bad – check out the magazine STRANDED, which rose from the ashes last year:
When Eyjafjallajökull erupted on April 14th 2010, American Andrew Losowsky was stranded in Dublin, Ireland. Inspired by the sudden turn of events, he sent out a call for contributors with just one condition: everyone involved had to be stranded by the ash cloud. From volcanologists and horror writers to illustrators and artists, over 50 people came together for the 88-page publication STRANDED. Proceeds go to The International Rescue Committee, helping people in more direly stranded straits all over the world.

We will continue to post both Icelandic and international designs inspired by the fire part of ‘The Country of Fire and Ice’ for as long as the eruption goes on. Stay tuned!
